Me + You - three sweet kids = Sanibel

Mike and I have gone away overnight many times as a couple before and after having kids. We've even left our sweeties for several nights going to Chicago a few years ago but this is the first time we actually flew away from them for several days and it was so nice. Absence DOES make the heart grow fonder! It was so nice to check out of life...dishes, laundry, bodily fluids from children, the alarm clock, etc. Many, many thanks go out to my mom and dad who bravely traveled to Ohio and took on the task of watching our kids! We love you G'Ma and G'Pa!

Truthfully, most of our pictures look like this! When you're on vacation alone you're left to self photograph! Our travels took us to beautiful Sanibel Island in Florida. I loved landing in Fort Myers and hearing the pilot say, "The current temperature on the ground is 88 degrees." I slapped Mike's leg and said, "Hot dang, THIS is why we came here!!!"

We enjoyed laying out in the sun, eating way too much and biking around the island (there were bike paths everywhere!). We can totally see ourselves coming back with the kids someday for a family vacation.

12 years later I'm still really into this handsome guy! We share so many laughs together!

On our last night we went a restaurant on Captiva Island (it's connected to Sanibel) called The Mucky Duck. One of Mike's co-workers has a family member who owns a house on Captiva and he said that when he retires he'd love to go sit at The Mucky Duck every night and watch the sun go down. Now that we've been there, we could too! After dinner we joined about 100 people out on the beach to watch the sun go down. Everyone clapped as it disappeared over the horizon. It was the perfect end to the perfect little getaway for us!
